In #Palestine, traditionally, people eat feseekh, a very salted fish. The fish is kept in salt for a month, which cooks its flesh. It tastes very strong, and it’s delicious! If salted fish is unavailable, some people have smoked fish instead.

Unfortunately, my family wasn’t able to afford feseekh this year. But I enjoyed thinking about it. God willing, we’ll have it next year.

There has been a very impressive sandstorm in Khan Yunis #Gaza #Palestine today. The photos are beautiful, but everyone is scared to go out, or to breathe unhealthy air. This is very rare, it only happens once every few years. I hope it doesn’t last for long.

With the war in Iran, Israel closed the Rafah crossing again, which caused panic buying in Gaza. Now markets have empty stalls.

I’ve been struggling to sleep during the night lately, and I end up being very tired during the day. Actually, I feel safer to sleep during the day, I’m not as afraid of the army, and my mind doesn’t run into circles.
But it’s a problem because I’m supposed to study.

To sleep better and find peace, I try going for walks and catching as much sunlight and sea air as I can.

Today, I was extremely hungry, it was a pleasure to finally break the fast! But food is scarce.

How are you?
This is the second day of #Ramadan in #Gaza.

The fast itself starts every day at the first light of day (and it ends at sunset). It coincides with one of the five daily prayers, Fajr. Before Fajr, we eat a morning meal called Suhoor. My family always wakes up and eats this meal all together. It’s lovely.

Ramadan is a very communal experience. Everyone supports each other and is in a good mood.

This means we’re entering a month of purification, of reflection, of joy and celebration too!

This is our 3rd Ramadan since the genocide in #Gaza began. I pray next year is better.
